Cómhnall Tuohy leads one of the firm’s litigation groups, covering all aspects of civil litigation in particular employment, landlord and tenant, property disputes/managed developments, PI defence and debt.
Over the years, Cómhnall has acted on behalf of a wide range of clients, including financial institutions, pension funds, State bodies, property developers, private companies, management companies and property management agents.
Cómhnall graduated from UCD with a BCL degree in 1991, and was admitted as a solicitor in 1994. He received post-graduate qualifications in both European law (1993) and Arbitration and Alternative Dispute Resolution (1999). He began his career with Gerrard, Scallan & O’Brien and co-founded Kane Tuohy in 2009.
Cómhnall represented a financial institution in the first Irish case (Court of Appeal) to consider “litigation holds” in the context of an employment dispute.
Cómhnall has extensive experience representing employers in managing and defending complex employment related matters.
He also represented a commercial tenant in a successful judicial review of a Strategic Housing Development decision of An Bord Pleanála.
Cómhnall regularly advises and represents stakeholders in managed developments (commercial/industrial/residential).
