Damian leads the Banking and Finance Team with his transactional expertise and assists the Corporate/Commercial Team with his corporate commercial expertise.
Damian has extensively advised on lending transactions and on corporate, commercial transactions. His specialisms within the banking and finance include a well regarded practice in lending, refinancing, securitisation, restructuring, security related due diligence and security enforcement across a wide range of finance including acquisition finance, property finance, construction finance, syndicated lending and debt/security ranking.
He is well regarded for his extensive expertise in advisory and transactional work within his corporate and commercial practice across a range of size and focus within the business community and he particularly specialises in corporate finance, acquisitions and disposal, commercial contracts and joint ventures.
His clients value him as practical, commercially driven and always staying close to his client and the deal from commencement, driving it to its conclusion.
Damian has been a partner in Kane Tuohy LLP since 2009. He graduated from the University of Natal in South Africa in 1993 with a BA LLB and was admitted as an attorney in South Africa in 1998. He was admitted as an Irish qualified solicitor in 2004. He was also admitted as a Solicitor in England and Wales in 2002.
Prior to Kane Tuohy, Damian was a partner at Lennon Heather Solicitors from 2005 to 2009 (having commenced practice with the firm in 2001) and an attorney with Strauss Daly Inc. Durban South Africa prior to that. Damian obtained a certificate in forensic accounting and fraud examination from the University of Pretoria in the year 2000.
Damian has acted as lead partner in the acquisition, financing, construction, franchising and operation of high value projects.
He has acted as lead lending partner for a syndicate bank in syndicated lending with other syndicate banks.
Acts as lead lending partner for banks, lenders and commercial clients in the provision of significant hospitality acquisition, construction and refinancing loans against complex security.
Acted in advisory capacity in the wind down of an Irish registered Designated Activity Company regulated by the Central Bank of Ireland carrying on the business of reinsurance.
Acts as partner in the sale of various companies regulated by such bodies as the Central Bank; the Environmental Protection Agency, HIQUA and others.
Acts as lead partner for corporate and commercial clients in portfolio advancement through acquisition of sites, existing trading and non-trading premises, assets and companies in the growth of portfolio and associated loan and equity based transactional work.
Acts for various valued clients in debt restructuring.
